Grandparents
My kids love their grandparents. Every single one of them and there are a lot of them in our family. I on the other hand want to strangle them at times. I think it’s a vicious cycle. The grandparents love to watch the grandkids drive the parents crazy and help at times. I swear all the toys and little things that I would never buy my kids they always seem to. Then you can’t take it away because of so many different reasons. I like putting things up out of reach for later I always say. Well, that no longer works with the oldest. He came into the kitchen today and told me “Look, I put stickers up.” You know in that minute you want to rip your hair out going “Oh my god what did you do?” So, I go in his room and he shows me in his toy closet how he put stickers all over the back wall. The stickers that I would never dreamed of getting him were bought by his grandmother (thanks mom). I had put them up on a shelf in his closet which I thought was out of reach. When she (my mom) bought it, it started out as a writing center with all kinds of things from pencils, paper, stickers, rulers, and more. Super cool present everyone thought, but all I saw was headaches. Well, she got it for him almost a year ago now. I swear that damn thing has cost me more aggravation and gray hair than any other present. I think we have pieces of it shoved in draws and closets all over the house that we have taken away. So, today it got me thinking. I saw this man in the commissary and he had this shirt on that said “Grandparents Rules #1 Give kids sugar, #2 Give kids back to parents.” So, yeah it’s a vicious cycle and I want to strangle the grandparents at times. But, once again there was no real damage done today. I still hate that damn writing center though. Thank god all that’s left in it now is an empty pencil case and a package of blank cards (the thank you kind), not a lot he can do with that now.
