First Word

So, the baby finally said “mama.”  I thought I had heard it from him twice last week but wasn’t sure, just thought it was wishful thinking.  Well, I was at a friend’s house and he just started “ma, ma, ma” it was so cool.  I looked over at her and said did you hear that?  That’s not my imagination right?  Did he really just say Mama?  Oh it was great!  She said yes, and we were both just in shock!  I felt bad though since my friend was a little upset not in a bad way though, just because her daughter is nine months and only says “dad da.”  She makes all kinds of noises though and is so cute she growls kind of like Ewoks or Chewbacca.  It’s the funniest thing in the world and I love it.  So my friend wanted to know how I got him to say it so fast.  I think it’s a combination of hearing his brother and me.  When I was trying to teach him to say it I would open his hand up and hold it to my lips while I said mama and sometimes I would say it on his cheeks too.  The hand thing I know is something that speech therapist use to help kids and so I figured it couldn’t hurt.  So, now I get to write it on the calendar that on August 15th, 2008 at 4 months of age he said his first word.  I told my husband that’s what you get for not wanting to be daddy and having a different name so now I get to be the first word, HAHA!
